Why do podcasts that I've deleted appear when iPhone is connected to car?

When I connect my iPhone to the car audio, old podcasts show up that I've deleted and no longer show up on the device. Ive uninstalled the podcast app, deleted and re-added the podcasts I want, rebooted the phone and even used iTunes to search for any hidden podcasts on my cloud account, but they still show up. Is this a known issue and is there any way to solve it?

I honestly don't know, and this is the first time hearing about something like this. Are you using iOS 10?

Yeah I'm using the latest version of iOS. They must be files or folders stored somewhere in the iPhone memory which show up when connected to the car. Maybe the update which changes the file system might sort it out.
