iMore Question

Up on the left corner, where you usually have your phone carrier name like T-mobile etc. it changes to app name when you are using one! Has someone ever had an app name there (like twitter, facebook, tinder etc) even though you don't have that app on your phone???

Welcome to iMore! Can't say I've ever had an app that I didn't have installed appear like that.

It usually changes to the app you were using before you pressed a hyperlink. Never seen it change to an app I didn't have in my device.

Then you don't open apps within another app.
Like when you're on twitter and there is a link to an Instagram photo or Facebook post.

Oh, wait! You're talking about the "go back" button thingy. I thought the reference was something more permanent.

Like the others, I've never seen the carrier info change to an app...EVER!

It happens when you click a link inside an app to open another app or when you use search.

I was on Facebook and clicked a link to YouTube. The "go back" to Facebook shows in the upper left.

Oh heck. I misunderstood what the OP was referring to. I thought he or she meant the actual carrier name changed to that of an app. My bad, and thanks for the clarification.

Yes, of course. That's completely normal when you go from one app to another from the original app. But it's not really replacing your carrier's name.

If you don't have the app **on your iPhone** then there is no way that the app-back icon (where the app shows in the upper left corner next to your carrier info) will show it. It is, however, possible that, if you tapped on a link while you were in an app, like Facebook, and it took you to a website outside of the app, you *might* mistake the link-back for the app-back icon.
