Amazon prime app on iPhone can only view offline data on Wi-fi or airplane mode

I have an iPhone and downloaded the amazon prime video app. I hooked up my account and downloaded a tv show. the only way to view the show is on wifi or with the cell data completly turned off (Airplane Mode). why can't i view it with the cell data turned off on the app only? that way i can still recieve calls, emails or texts?

First of all, you won't be able to "receive calls, emails or texts" while your phone is in Airplane Mode. Note that "cellular data completely turned off" is not the same thing as Airplane Mode.

However, if you completely download a show in the Amazon Prime Video app, you should be able to watch the show with the phone in Airplane Mode. You need to reconnect at least every 48 hours to authenticate the download.

What error are you seeing when you try to watch the show?
