iPhone ran out of space during update

Serious question. Was updating one of my older iPhones, and during the update, it appears as though the phone has run out of space. The iPhone screen is the white/Apple screen with the progress bar, and in iTunes the progress bar has been stuck in the same spot for over an hour.

Has anyone encountered this? And what's the best way to proceed?

Put your iPhone in DFU mode and try again.

DFU mode: hold down power and volume up button for 10 seconds, release power button but hold the volume button for another 5-6 seconds. This will enable DFU mode and you will get a notification on iTunes it has found a phone in Recovery mode. Repeat the update process and you should be good to go.

Hmmmm tried that. Nothing happens. Looks like the thing is froze up solid!

Pulled the plug and trying to install an update again. It's not looking good. Might have to restore to default!

Yikes. It won't restore either. Not sure what happened here

Are you per chance trying to restore a jail broken device?? That messes stuff up real bad.

Try keeping it till the battery gets drained.
