iCloud Drive

iMore Question

So, I am trying to figure out this whole iCloud thing. I understand the basics. My question is, for example, I have photos of my dog on my iPhone/iPad that I would like to remove from my devices since I don't need them on my phone all the time. But obviously still want to keep them. If I move these photos to iCloud Drive AND remove them from my phone. Are they removed from iCloud Drive? I guess is iCloud Drive an option to save photos that you don't want on your phone/iPad?

That's possible, yes.

You have to do it on a computer or Mac though.

After placing those photos in iCloud Drive you're safe to delete them from your iPhone.

But I recommend you to make a backup first anyway, just to be safe.

Honestly there is never enough backup. I would recommend getting a Flickr account. It's free and you get 1TB of space for pictures. Install the Flickr app on your iPhone and upload the pictures there as well. You'll have three copies of the pictures, iCloud Drive, backup and Flickr. Then no matter what you can rest easy.
