Do I need internet at home as well as my summer home to set up and communicate with homekit?

I want to set up homekit at my main residence as well as my summer home. I would like to have security camaras as well as door locks and lighting controlled through my iphone. Am I required to have an internet connection at both places in order to accomplish this?

Yes. Plus you will need an iPad or TV 4th gen at those places to act as an hub if they don't have one provided.
