Why don't my pictures come through via texting

When I get pictures via texting some come through and some don't I don't know why

Are you getting anything at all? Any error messages? Have you noticed any patterns at all? For example are all the texts with missing pictures from the same person or from the same cell carrier which is not your own? Or are all the not received pictures from non iPhone people?
