    I put it on shuffle and sometimes it plays without a problem and other times it will play 2 or 3 songs and then stop and I cannot start it again no matter what I try. HELP !!!

    Are you using a downloaded playlist or a streamed list. Could be loss of connection if it is streamed. If it is a downloaded list try to reboot the iPad to see if there is some cruft that is stuck in memory.
