I tried getting on Whatsapp on my iPhone today and it would begin optimizing, then would take me to a screen that reads "Whatsapp seems to be having trouble reading your chat history and will try to recover it. This can take several minutes." And when I click begin recovery, a pop up appears saying "Unfortunately Whatsapp was unable to recover your chat history. Please delete and re-install Whatsapp." I'm scared if I reinstall Whatsapp, I'll lose all my chat history? I've never backed it up either as I've had my backup off. Is there anyway to fix this problem as I have many important chats I don't want to lose or do I just have to start fresh?

If its necessary, I have iOS 10.0.2
