My iphone 5 is not working proberly

My iPhone 5 says the battery is at 100% but as soon as I get on it my iPhone goes dead until I plug it back in and it kicks on and says the battery is still at 100%. What is causing this?

Maybe there's an issue with the battery. You can take it to Apple Support to see what the issue is
