Why is there no sound from iPhone 7 when charging in car?

Depends but from my experience this could be because a car that has iPod feature detects Lighitng as an audio out - which will play if you turn on radio with iPod feature.

Yep. My car does the same thing, although incoming calls still ring through over Bluetooth.
