Why is there a black dot above a iMessage that I sent.

Small black circle on the far right side of the screen below the date an time. Never had it before. They also have an iPhone with iMessage on. The message shows delivered at the bottom.

I can't see the same black circle on any of my iMessages. Is it on all? Some only? Are you on the current OS 10.1.1?
