I am new to iPhones. I have a problem with hearing the caller. Very soft

As above, the caller is extremely soft unless I have the speaker phone on.

I'm hearing impaired. I've always had some issues with iPhone volume. The 6s Plus is a little better than the 5 and 4 before. When my wife got her new 5c over 2 years ago, the volume was horrible. And she has excellent hearing. I found this online that worked great on her 5c. Try going to Settings >General > Accessibility > Hearing Devices> Toggle on Hearing Aid Mode. It did wonders for her 5c. It helped my 5 a little bit. I have it on for my 6s Plus, but have never tested it.

Be sure the volume is turned up. Check 3 places.
