Why can others on my account read my texts from their phone?

Somehow my husband is able to read my texts from his phone. How is this possible and can it be changed?

Welcome to iMore! You're most likely sharing the same Apple ID. Or iCloud ID. You need separate iCloud, iMessage and Facetime ID's. Sharing the same ID causes lots of problems. Also you must share the same 5 free gb of iCloud storage. With separate ID's, you each get 5 free gb. You should change your ICloud email address ID and password to your own. Also iMessage and Facetime. You can still share the same iTunes ID. That way you can share the same iTunes purchases and App Store purchases. If you use your husbands ID, just leave it as is in iTunes. Only change iCloud, iMessage and Facetime. If you have children using phones, you can set up Family Sharing.
