How to regain access to Whatsapp on IOS6 ? or How to retrieve chat history with no backup ?

I've Iphone 4S IOS V 6.3.1.
I took the SIM out today in order to try a new phone, assuming that when I will return it back all will continue as before.
But when I tried to access whatsapp I received a notification that whatsapp doesn't support the current IOS version on my phone and currently I have no access to whatsapp itself on my phone.
I didn't backup the chat history.
Any idea if I regain access to whatsapp if the history will show ?
Any idea on how I can gain access to whatsapp on my phone ? or how to retreive the chat history if no back up done ?
Any suggestions are wellcome.

Thank I did send a question to support@whatsapp.com but so far I only received their automatic reply. Do you maybe know another source of info for that question ?
