Question. Did you have headphones plugged in before the issue arose? I had an issue, albeit with an older device (Tre700), and it started after unplugging some headphones. I read through some forums and they said dirt or lint can get caught in the AUX plug in area. They suggested I plug the headphones back in and pull them out real fast. That helped.
I don't know if this is the issue you are having but can't hurt to try. Also, if it doesn't work, make an appointment with the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store.
