How do I control which calendared items create a popup on my Mac Window?

I like to add my planned tasks for the day on the actual calendar itself (it meets my needs), but I do not want to be notified of those tasks in any way other than my choosing to manually open my calendar and look to see what I had planned.

However, I do want to be able to still be notified to actual commitments, occasions, or appointments I have added to the calendar that would effect someone else. I know how to edit the audio alerts on my devices. I am trying to find out if I can edit the pop up windows on my devices in a way that I select which ones I want the pop up for and which ones I do not want the pop up to happen. If I can do that, how do I go about it?

Can you not just create your task and then select "None" next to the event's Alert option for the the ones you don't want to be notified of? Forgive me if Ive misunderstood your post.
