Mac book pro 15 Can't get my photos after updating to El Capitan early 2008 model

When I pull up the photo icon there is a circle with a line through it. Then a window pops up. In order to open photo you need to update to the latest version. When I click on search for app it opens the window and says item not available. The item you've requested is not currently available in US store. How do I get to my photos???

Are you using iPhoto or Photos? Photos is the application required as iPhoto is no longer supported. Have you tried searching for Photos in the app store?

I'd recommend creating an account here on iMore and reply for further assistance.

I have searched for photos in the App Store. I don't see exactly what I need. I do have an account here, thanks. Maybe the Mac is just too old...
