How to do a hard reset. Hold the power & home button at the same time until you see the  logo. Then release the buttons and wait for it to finish. Hopefully this will solve the problem for you. Thanks!

You could also hold the power button until the slide to power off screen comes up. Don't power off but hold the home button until your home screen comes on. This resets apps that are hanging up.
