Earlier is used to get 8-9 even 10 hrs battery life, but now it's hardly 4 hrs. should i revert back to El Capitan or wait for apple to fix this issue( will they?? Is it a genuine issue with others as well or is it just me who's facing it.

I have a MacBook Air (mid 2012)
After about a year, my battery went downhill.
Now I get About 2 1/2 hours normal use.
1 1/2 hours of steaming stock charts
My poor battery life has been that regardless of the OS.
Hoping to get a new MacBook Pro and give my MBA to my wife (after I replace the battery
)
