How do I stop navigation in google maps on my iphone6?

I hit my screen and it added a dropped pin in Google maps and now I cannot cancel navigation to the location nor can I delete the dropped pin

Welcome to iMore! There may be a better way, but go to Google maps menu > Settings > maps history > Tap X by the location. That deletes the location all together. Maybe someone else knows a better way. I don't use maps much.

At the bottom of the navigation screen in Google Maps (where it shows the time and distance), there is a black X on the left side. Tap that to cancel the navigation.
