How do I adjust the volume on my iphone5

The volume down button does not work and I have been using the swipe up on the home screen to adjust my volume. With the iOS 10.0.2 update it only allows you adjust the screen brightness. How can I adjust my volume without using the side buttons (which the volume down does not work)

Welcome to iMore! Once you swipe up to open Control Center, swipe to the left and you'll see a second Control Center "card" with volume control.
