Siri won't continue reading text messages

I just got the iPhone SE. I absolutely love it, but for one thing: when Siri is reading my texts back to me, she will tell me that I have texts from "Suzanne, Mike and Alexandra", but instead of asking me "Should I continue reading?" after each one, she stops, and I have to ask her to read my texts again (and again and again). It's a real pain. Is anybody else experiencing this? I think it has to do with the OS and not the phone, and, I can't find anything in "Settings" to address this.
