Apple Music offline listening on single subscription

I want to subscribe to Apple Music single plan to discover new music. I know that the single plan limits streaming to one device at a time, but my wife is also interested in new songs, but she doesn't need the streaming feature. Can we use the same account and have the songs she is interested in be downloaded offline so she can listen to them anytime while I stream on my device. Any issue with this setup? Or do I have to shell out for the family plan?

As far as I know that should work in theory, but I can't say it for sure. You can give it a try and if you decide the family plan is better for you, you can switch easily.
