Wanting to upgrade without having to purchase entire new watch. Don't need a new band.

The Apple Watch Series 2 comes with a band.
You can't buy one without the bands. And frankly, there is no harm in having an extra band lying around somewhere. I have 3 myself.

The more bands the merrier, you can never have enough bands. But no you can't order without the band. That would be a good idea for Apple to think about.
