    I purchased it in 2013. It hasn't gotten wet, although it has been dropped a few times. It will allow calls to come in, and I can call out while using the SYNC in my car. Any ideas?

    Sounds like your screen is unresponsive for touches.
    Have a Apple Certified Repair Service look at it.

    Hold down both the Power and Home buttons concurrently until the device reboots itself, this usually takes about 10 seconds, as signified by the  Apple logo appearing on screen
