why do my emails disappear from my inbox on my ipad air

I had 3 emails in my inbox. |I read 2 of them and then they all disappeared. Could not find them in any other folder.

Is there another device or computer accessing the same inbox? If the other device is using POP instead of IMAP, emails will get deleted from the inbox on the server as they are retrieved by that other device.
