I would go full SSD - actually I did for my MacBook Pro late 2011. I bought a
Crucial MX200 500 GB version on Amazon.
I did the SSD and added 16 GB of Crucial RAM - my MacBook Pro flies. Like a different computer. Highly recommend it.

Crucial I trust. what I do is look up what I want on Crucial for a particular computer, copy the Crucial part number and then just paste that part number in at Amazon. Amazon is usually cheaper and I have Prime shipping so it comes in 2 days.
But definitely go SSD. You won't believe it is the same computer. My MBP boots up faster than my iPhone.
