Why is my iPhone battery case peeling?

My iPhone battery case is peeling badly after only a few months. Is it me or is this a common issue? Has apple offered a return for these cases?

If you don't use a cover for your phone, in some cases the paint layer can get damaged by scratches and stuff. This is counted as user made damages and will not be covered by normal warranty.

But I suggest you don't take my word for this as of yet and make an appointment with the nearest Apple Store at your convenience and ask them about this.
