I just got a new 5K iMac with a 512gb SSD. I am transferring data from my previous 3tb hard drive. Of course, to make the best use of the SSD speed, I just want to move my essential apps and their associated system files. I will keep all large data on the HD (i.e. photos, videos, music etc.)
This is where it gets crazy. The Migration Assistant does a good job if you are migrating to a new storage device that is the same size or bigger. Not so good if you want to pick and choose. Why has Apple not thought that some customers would need a more capable migration assistant?
Is there another application that would do what I need? Thanks in advance.
