    Tried to access Settings. It then got stuck in the "verifying updates.." Can't get to main screen to call etc. Phone rings on incoming calls but cant pickup.

    Do a reboot by holding the power key and the home button until the Apple logo appears and let go. The phone will reboot. Let us know if that fixed it.
