In my car, using either Apple Maps or Google Maps, the directions do not go over my Bluetooth headset even when I am paired. What can I do to get those directions through my headset or what app do I need?

I'm not sure if Apple allows that, but I've seen Google Maps play audio through a car's bluetooth speakers from an Android.

Navigon's apps allow you to select bluetooth as an audio output destination in the app settings.

I use Scobbler and it is open source. It works great with my car's Bluetooth and iPhone's music playback. The app is highly customizable. Plus, the voices are customizable, unlike the others. I use either the Mr. T, Marge Simpson, or Stephen Fry, though there a bunch to choose from. As far as Bluetooth, you have the choice of Automatic, Device or Bluetooth Hands Free.
