The issue with the old machine is that it won't start. All I have now is my Seagate FreeAgent Desk and my iPhone 6 as sources to try to recover my music and files.

Just spoke to an Apple support rep and he said there is no way to move the music from the phone to the new computer. Sad that they never anticipated that someone would need to move the music back off the phone to a new machine. The only hope is to get the old machine going and move the music to jump drive for import.

Is there any chance the HDD or SSD of your old pc is still working?

I assume you're not subscribed to Apple music or using iTunes Match?

Welcome to iMore! Have you considered trying to remove the HDD from the old computer to see if it is still working. If it is working, then get an enclosure for it and try moving things off it to your new computer. Just a thought.

I agree with Firedept10. If you cannot install the old drive in the new PC there are dozens of tutorials online to show you how to easily convert an internal drive to an external drive.

Or, there is software you can purchase to move the music from phone to pc, but I found them to be overpriced for what they do. Depends on how desperate you are. Google searches will show a few of them.

As much as I groused about it when I had that issue with my iPod, you would figure my fiance' (who is a programmer/software engineer/computer consultant) would of written me up some software. But you know the old saying; live with a mechanic and you drive a crappy car.
