    My iPad only seems to print A4 size photos.

    Welcome to iMore! What app are you using to print your photos? Unless you have an AirPrint compatible printer you'll need a third party printing app. Either way, most printer manufacturers have iOS companion apps that give you way more control of things like photo size than AirPrint does. I recommend checking into that and using the companion app to print instead.
