I m not able to upgrade IOS in my i phone 5c

Unable to update software. It says "Unable to check for update". Cannot download Whatsapp also. Anybody can help ?

try using a computer to force the update if the 5c is still supported for the update.

What iOS is it running? Did you try a hard reset?
Hold the top or side power/sleep button and the home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears, then release.
