Does the apple pencil work with anything other than IPad Pro?

I am looking forward to next iPad for drawing and my next upgrade iPad. I was told apple pencil will work with other apple gear (iPhones even)

I honestly do not know, and Apple does not mention any other device with it, except the iPad Pro. In fact, on its website, it states, ""Introducing Apple Pencil for iPad Pro"
