The issue you are having doesn't seem to be related to the update but just to be sure you can restore your device to new. But make sure you do an iTunes back up of your device first.

As far as your tap issue, try and clean your screen with a good cleaner and if your still have this issue after trying all these options you should have it checked at a Genius Bar to make sure your not having a Digitizer issue
