Unread mailbox error

While viewing mailbox "unread" the # count of unread messages at the bottom is incorrect. It says 8 unread messages when in fact I do not have any. I have tried rebooting, marking all as read then unread. I have an iPhone 5C with all the updates except 9.1.

Delete the account from your iPhone and then reconfigure it or you can disable the toggle next to "Mail" for that particular account, reboot, and then re-enable the toggle.
