Why is there a grey line covering the messages I am typing?

When ever I go into messages to reply to a text, a grey line is covering the message. I can still type a message but can't see the first line of the message. Anyone know why?

Not sure what you see. Can you show a screenshot? Do you use the predictive feature? Do you use 3rd party keyboards?

Happened to me too after latest update really annoying! Turning off phone stops it but comes back! I also have some kind of clock/timer on it too! Always says 0:00

Once you've posted enough meaningful posts/replies, you'll then be allowed to post images. Simply use the image option in the reply field.

Mine started this after the latest update also. My character count isn't on...so that's not the issue or the fix. Anybody else got any ideas?

I turned on character count and it went away.. might do the trick for now?

Same for me, I put count on now its gone , happy days again!!

Hurrah, I went into settings, messages and turned the character count "on" and the greyed out bubble went away.

Try closing any open apps by double clicking the home button. I just tried this and it worked for me. Good luck!!

That's not necessary. It's the messages app. If you close out any, it would be that one. Not all apps.

You accidentally hit the little microphone icon and it is now waiting for you to start recording. Hit the microphone icon again and cancel the recording. Problem solved.
