why doesnt my i pod 5 battery percentage show up

My battery percentage doesn't show up.after I'm.charging it or while I'm.charging it why is that

Is the setting off for showing the battery percent?

Unless it's changed for iOS 9, there is no option to display battery percentage for the iPod... that option, for some reason, is only available for iPhone and iPad.
