Is there a way to reply to iMessages on my iPhone without having to unlock my phone or use touch ID to access the message app? If so please give a detailed description on how to set this feature up. Thanks in advance.

Yes, and I'm assuming you're running at least iOS 8. Anyway, when you receive an iMessage while your device is locked, and if you have Show on Lock Screen enabled in the Notification settings for Messages, all you have to do is swipe left on the message to reveal the 'reply' option. Select 'reply' and then type your message. Afterwards, send it.
