Tell your employer how are you suppose to use the iPhone if you're unable to unlock the lock screen. The only way to bypass it is to restore it via iTunes, BUT, if the iCloud activation lock has been enabled, you still won't be able to use the device afterwards, and since you don't know the lock screen passcode, I'm going to assume you don't know the iCloud account passcode either, if applicable.
