Why isn't the slide to unlock feature working on my iPad?

The slide to access my Ipad 2 isnt working. I tried switching it off but the off slide is aslo not working. How can I releaase it?

To power off the iPad, go to Settings >General >Accessibility >scroll down to Assistive Touch >bring up that > Tap the button> then tap Device > then hold down on the lock until it powers off.

I miss understood your question.
You could try resetting the iPad by holding down the lock button and home button until an Apple logo appears
