Why can't I get my iPad to connect to the Internet?

I get a message saying connect a ipod or itunes. I have not used a ipod or itunes with this device.

Are you saying it's disabled? Or you can't get Internet? Be specific.

Do you have wifi? Is it enabled?
Do you have cellular turned on in Settings?
