set up new iphone 4s problems with wifi

okay so i bought a 4s from someone having to reset it i cant get passed the 3rd step which is connecting to wifi, it keeps telling me its unable to join the network???

Are you by chance using MAC address filtering on your Wi-Fi network? If you are, have you made sure you have the correct MAC in the table? Also make sure you're using the correct password.
