How can I access old text messages?

I was told to check in the spotlight search and the old messages would come up. I tried but I'm looking for ones from 6 months ago (that have never been deleted). Is there an easier way for me to access them? I tried checking in the messages folder to keep scrolling up but it will only load about a month prior. Please help! Thanks!

If they were never deleted, they should still be on the thread. Have you scrolled up the thread? Might take a while!
