I have followed the details/tips on how to delete calendar events, but it has not worked?

As above the calendar event is showing:
New Event
from 00.00 Sun, 9 Aug 2015
to 00.00 Mon, 1 Jan 2001 but I cannot delete of over type this calendar event, pleas help?

You can't delete holidays or contact's birthdays without deleting their birthday from the contact card.
For other events, go to the event and tap "edit" in the top right corner. Then scroll down to "Delete Event".






