My son is using wifi at all hours of the night, is there anyway to use family base controls to restrict usage even if he has access to wifi?

You need to set the limits in your wifi router. There is nothing built into iOS to control wifi access.

    Or . . .

    1) Take away his devices.

    2) Unplug the router and take it with you.

I know I'm old school, but gosh, it really irks me when I read posts complaining about stuff like this. If the problem is such a big pain, what's so difficult about taking the phone away?

OP, how much wifi do you get each month? I get 300 gb with Comcast, but we only use about 20 gb or less.
