I would like to know is there an app out there that offers turn by turn, but also allows me to pick the route. Even more so, is there a turn by turn app that would allow me to say pick a route on Google maps and then transfer that route into my app so that I could receive turn by turn on the route I chose to go.

Google Maps doesn't work for you? Apple Maps? Both work fine for me... As does the paid app Navigon...there are lots of others in the AppStore.

Tried an earlier version...found it wasn't up to what I was used to with Navigon or AppleMaps.

The native Maps app will allow for what you're seeking to do...

I'll have to agree with the others. I've tried several GPS apps/devices, but Apple Maps and Google Maps do just about anything I ever need.

And think of all the money I have wasted.

I drive for a living and used to go between Apple and Google Maps. Apple Maps has greatly improved and I now use it 99% of the time. I also feel the options to save and organize destinations is superior on Apple Maps.

Try Google maps or Apple Maps it should definitely work for you.
