My ringer is turned off, how do I turn it back on?

my ringer is turned off and i don't know how to turn it back on?

suddenly my ringer on my new iPhone is not working. I don't know if I did something to turn it off. I have searched settings, do not disturb, etc. and don't know how you lock and unlock phone, what the control center does, just have a lot of questions about this phone. Can you help?

Have you while holding it pressed on your volume control and shut off sound, or flick over the mute switch, just above volume control buttons, easily done with either. Jim
